Beliefs

These are our belief statements:

We believe the Bible is God's word. It is written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian belief and living. Because the Bible is inspired of God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.

We believe in the Trinity - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus was God's gift and plan for life in its fullness and life eternal.

We believe that human beings were made in the spiritual image of God to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God's creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of selfishness, "sin". This attitude separates us from God and causes many of the problems in life.

We believe salvation is God's free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sins by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Christ as God's offer for forgiveness, can anyone be saved from sin's penalty. As we turn from our sin-ruled life to Jesus in faith, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Christ by faith into their life.

Here are the core values of the Cathedral of Joy:

Jesus is Lord, Savior and Friend. Everything we do, everything we teach flows from Jesus as our Lord, Savior and friend.

Prayer is essential. We do nothing without prayer...and prayer is 99% listening!

Bible study - all of our values are determined and defined by the Bible.

Corporate worship is essential. Our highest commitment is to insure weekly worship and an awesome encounter with the Living God. Our goal is to lift up Jesus Christ so that every seeker is drawn to Him and every believer is prepared to live life to the hilt.

People are precious. Our goal is to have a Pastor / Shepherd for every person in our church family.

Priority of the Weakest. Basic to all of our ministries is to give a place of special priority to those described in Matthew 25:37: "the hungry...the thirsty...the stranger...those needing clothes...the sick... the imprisoned." We understand this to be both spiritual and literal.
